Native American Education

The Native American Student Summer Program is a unique opportunity for our Native students to come together from across the district in order to allow them to explore, participate, and celebrate their Native culture.

Students will work to create authentic, culturally relevant items from many different Nations. Our one week summer session will incorporate math and reading skills in context. Students create complex geometric patterns through beadwork, and use every day math through cooking. Technical as well s leisurely reading are utilized and encouraged as students read directions to create their projects and enjoy time to read books they get to pick out and take home. Students cool traditional, authentic Indigenous foods, and explore using ingredients to create a modern take on old recipes. The program works in instill pride in our Native American students in their culture and heritage.
