A mentee is an educator who is part of the Teacher Induction Program. They are on an initial license. Teachers are assigned a mentor for two years, school specialists and building leaders are assigned a mentor for one year.
Mentee Responsibilities
- attend New Staff Orientation
- attend scheduled professional learning (building and district)
- observe another teacher's classroom
- invite their Mentor or Instructional Coach to observe them teaching
- express needs and concerns
- identify personal and IPDP goals and objectives
- trust that confidentiality be maintained
- ask for and accept help, especially when overwhelmed
- be open to reflection
- communicate any changes needed in the mentorship relationship
- understand the domains of professional practice
- develop professional growth by service to the school and district
