Mentees

A mentee is an educator who is part of the Teacher Induction Program. They are on an initial license. Teachers are assigned a mentor for two years, school specialists and building leaders are assigned a mentor for one year.

Mentee Responsibilities

  • attend New Staff Orientation
  • attend scheduled professional learning (building and district)
  • observe another teacher's classroom
  • invite their Mentor or Instructional Coach to observe them teaching
  • express needs and concerns
  • identify personal and IPDP goals and objectives
  • trust that confidentiality be maintained
  • ask for and accept help, especially when overwhelmed
  • be open to reflection
  • communicate any changes needed in the mentorship relationship
  • understand the domains of professional practice
  • develop professional growth by service to the school and district
