AVID ELECTIVE CURRICULUM
Students enrolled in the AVID Elective will engage in lessons that allow them to explore college and career paths, organizational techniques, a wide variety of WICOR strategies, and hear from guest speakers. AVID students engage in regular discourse with peers and with their teacher to develop higher order thinking skills that will assist them with all course work.
TUTORIALS
AVID students have a unique opportunity every week to engage in a tutorial process with their peers and a college age tutor twice a week. Prior to tutorials, students must complete a tutorial request form to indicate an areas of need - and they must indicate a point of confusion. When in class, students are then divided into tutorial groups based on content area/need. College age tutors help facilitate the process, but most tutorials are truly led by students helping students.
