PK-12 SUMMER PROGRAMS - ACADEMIC & ENRICHMENT
The 2026 summer programs are full of fun and interesting learning opportunities! Below is the list of offerings for this summer for students in PK-12.
Due to funding changes, summer programs will be $40 per week per student currently attending Topeka Public Schools, with a $10 non-refundable deposit to secure a spot.
Out-of-district fees are $80 per week per student, with a $20 non-refundable deposit to secure a spot.
Please click on this link (English & Spanish) to download the permission slip for field trips, as there may be some offered to your student. Print the form and bring it on the first day of your child's summer program.
Parents will be responsible for transporting their children in elementary school, as busing will not be available this summer. Students in middle and high school will have FREE access to Topeka Metro routes using a valid school ID.
All students in PK attending summer camps will be at Shaner Early Learning Academy.
Enrichment Camps will take place at Jardine Elementary and Jardine Middle School.
Parents will enroll their children using Synergy ParentVue in the grade level they completed during the 2025-2026 school year. For example, if your student finishes 2nd grade by the time summer programs start, then your child must register for 2nd grade during summer programs.

Breakfast and lunch will be served at 8:00 AM and 11:30 AM, respectively.
Families must pick up their student no later than 12:00 PM.

ATTENTION PARENTS OF PRESCHOOL-AGED STUDENTS
All preschool students must have attended a PK4 (preschool for 4-year olds) program during the 2025/2026 school year AND must be fully toilet-trained to attend. There will be no exceptions.
There will be no camp on Fridays. Camp is in session Monday-Thursday only.

Description: Students will work on their mathematical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills with an academic and enrichment focus to explore the great variety of ways math helps in our everyday lives!
Students will also dive into the world of books and literature in Project-Based Learning activities to continue sharpening their reading, writing and critical thinking skills, as well as their creativity!

Course Description: This course introduces students to the world of business. The course is an overview of the business functions, including accounting, business ownership, economics, finance, human resources, and risk management. This course prepares students for enrollment in advanced business courses. In addition, students will develop business knowledge and skills for use in everyday life. This course is the same as Introduction to Business (2040), and students may earn 0.5 high school credit.

Course Description: Drama/Theater will be offered to students in 2nd grade through 8th grade in two sessions: One group of students in 2nd-8th grade participate in Week 1 & Week 2, and another group of 2nd-8th grade students during Week 3 & Week 4. This will allow your student to learn theatrical skills as well as prepare them for their final performance at the end of their second week.

Course Description: In this camp, we will be learning about the engineering design process! This is a project-based learning (PBL) opportunity where students will design and build a 3D version of their dream treehouse. The focus of this PBL is to define a problem reflecting a need, and create a solution by following criteria for success. Students will also apply problem solving skills to account for limitations to design elements that will result in an engineeringly sound final product. Through this process, students will learn to think like an engineer while utilizing practical skills such as teamwork and collaboration. Students will bring their treehouses home at the end of the week!

Course Description: The photography class will explore the origins of photography and how it has changed over its 195+ years. Students will learn rules of photography, perspective, and the Rule of Thirds and exposure. In this photography class, students will also discover and be exposed to different photographic styles in a hands-on learning experience.
Shaner Preschool Summer Camp (This is a 4-week camp.)

Course Description: The Academic & Enrichment Preschool Summer Camp at Shaner Early Learning Academy is full of fun and interesting learning opportunities that will continue preparing students to be Kindergarten Ready in the fall.
During Shaner Preschool Summer Camp, students will have various enrichment opportunities that may include robotics and coding, music and movement, art, gardening and more! Pre-Kindergarten academics including counting and letter/sound identification will be integrated throughout the enrichment opportunities.
The Shaner Preschool Summer Camp is offered to students who attended any preschool in Topeka Public Schools during the 2025-2026 school year. Camp will begin on June 1 and will last through June with the last day being June 25 (no camps on Fridays). Transportation will NOT be provided for summer camp at Shaner Early Learning Academy. All students must be fully toilet-trained and have attended a PK 3 or PK4 program to participate. There will be no exceptions.

Course Description: In this camp, we will explore the world of science. Students will participate in lots of hands-on experiments and learn about the scientific method. We will create color explosions, chemical reactions, and much more. Students will learn basic scientific principles, integrating math and reading skills, and have lots of fun in the process! Keep in mind that we will cover the same content each week, so please sign up for only one of the weeks.
