Topeka Public Schools has a lot of curriculum technology resources that students can access from home. The resources below should be accessed through the Clever app. Students use their Google credentials (email and password) to log into Clever. If you are unaware what that is, please contact your school.
The following apps can be accessed inside Clever:
Code.org - a coding/computer science website for students in grades K-12.
Discovery Education - students can access content cased videos, images, simulations, podcasts, etc. on a variety of topics.
Footsteps 2 Brilliance - Students in grades PK-3 can learn phonics and reading skills.
Google CS First students in grades 3-8 can learn cool coding skills.
IXL - students in grades K-5 can enrich their reading and math skills, students in 6-8 can enrich English Language Arts, math, science, and social studies skills, students in 9-12 can practice ELA and math skills.
Microsoft MakeCode - students in grades 6-12 can practice coding on a virtual Micro:Bit
MIT App Inventor - students in grades 6-12 can code and create phone apps.
MobyMax - Students in PK3 through 8th grade can practice and enrich math, reading, language, science, social studies, and test taking skills.
Neptune Navigate - students can learn cybersecurity, computer science, digital citizenship skills.
Newsela -students in grades 3-12 can read about current topics
NoRedInk - students in grades 3-12 can practice and learn grammar skills and increase writing abilities.
Seesaw - students in grades PK-5 can create content and make digital portfolios, complete assigned work by teachers.
Studies Weekly - students in grades 3-5 can read articles about social topics.
Typing.com - students can practice their typing skills.
TinkerCAD - students in grades 6-12 can learn 3D modeling.
VexVR - students in grades 6-12 can code virtual vehicles to complete course maps
Family Activities
Common Sense Media - Families can learn about Digital Citizenship, have family conversations + activities on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and engage in family activities about using technology.
Priceless Parenting - multiple resources for parents around technology. Create a family plan, evaluate apps, games, movies, being safe online, setting restrictions on phones and tablets, healthy media use and monitoring your children's online activities.

Cellphones and Devices: A Guide for Parents and Caregivers - This is an important issue and is getting bigger. When parents give a child a cellphone with a data plan, they giving the child an all-access pass to the whole world. This can be very dangerous! In school, students are heavily filtered from dangerous websites as they use district devices, but students are not filtered on their phones. Dangerous predator's, inappropriate websites and artificial intelligence are all accessible to them. Most students are highly susceptible to outside influences and are not mature enough to make good choice about these matters.
