Bishop Professional Development Center opened in October of 2019. It was created after Bishop Elementary School closed. It was completely rebuilt to suit its new purpose and was funded through the TPS Bond Project. It is a state-of-the-art learning center for district staff and includes a broadcast studio, audio room, maker-space, distance-learning lab, tiered-presentation room, robotics room, teaming rooms, small meeting rooms, classrooms, outdoor classroom and large partitionable rooms. District staff and community members are able to reserve rooms for meetings and retreats.
Bishop was named after Maude Bishop, a long-time educator in Topeka Public Schools. She was a history and social studies teacher at Topeka High and received the THS Distinguished Staff award for her work.
