Summer Music Camp

The Summer Music Program provides a musical experience in the early summer aimed at retaining musical skills they have acquired during the school year. Made possible by a generous grant from the Topeka Public Schools Foundation students are able to attend at no cost.  It is possible for students to participate in more than one ensemble.  All sessions will be located at Highland Park High School, 2424 SE California Ave. 

Introduction to Mariachi

Date: June 3 to June 14 (no school June 19)
Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Grade Level: 5-8
Cost: Free
Location: Ross Elementary School
Maximum enrollment of 20
Description: Dive into the world of Mariachi with our introductory workshop! Explore the artistry of violins, guitarrones, vihuelas, trumpets, singing, and more. Immerser yourself in hands-on activities and enjoy live performances by talented musicians. This experience is perfect for anyone curious about the rich tradition of Mariachi music.

Summer Band

Date: June 3 to June 28 (no school June 19)
Time: 8:00am - 10:00am
Grade Level: 5-8
Cost: Free
Location: Highland Park High School
Closing Concert:  Thursday, June 27, at 6:00pm
Director
Description: The Topeka Public Schools music program provides an opportunity for students to participate in band beyond the regular school year. There will be a band concert at the end of the program. Students must have played at least one year in band or have taken private lessons in grades 5 through 8 to qualify for the summer program. 

Summer Choir

Date: June 3 to June 28
Time: 9:00am - 11:00am
Grade Level: 5-8
Cost: Free
Location: Highland Park High School
Closing Concert: Friday, June 28, at 6:00pm
