October 2021 Professional Learning Day

The following sessions were the prerecorded workshops presented during the October 12 professional learning day. In order to receive professional development points, you must complete the Point Request form located on Frontline. The route to the form: Log on to Frontline~ Locate the Navigation Bar on the left side~Scroll down to Forms~ Click~will extend to the right~Click, Point Request Form. All the fields in red are required to complete. 

 

The following prerecorded sessions were offered during the October 12, 2021 professional learning day.

Title: Assessments in Discovery Education
Presenter: Gail Ramirez
Description: Participants will learn how to create quizzes in DE. There are standard quizzes, video quizzes, and studio quizzes. We will also navigate the gradebook in DE. Quizzes is a new feature in Discovery Ed.

Title: Ci3T, PBIS and Reinforcement
Presenter: Stacey Kramer
Description: This session will introduce PBIS reinforcement and provide examples of reinforcement ideas.

Title: MobyMax Basics
Presenter: Gail Ramirez
Description: This session provides an introduction to MobyMax. It is a district-purchased program available for students in grades PK-8 for all core content areas (ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, Reading). It also has a wonderful early reading activities for our younger scholars.

Title: Coding Opportunities in Discovery Education

Description: Did you know that there is a Coding Curriculum Pack available in Discovery Education for K-5 classrooms? The lessons start out simple for early learners and progress up through Python coding for more advanced users.

Title: Creating Studio Boards in Discovery Education (links below in description)
Presenter: Gail Ramirez
Description: This session will focus on creating Studio Boards in Discovery Education. Both teachers and students can create studio boards, one to teach and reinforce a concept and the other to show mastery of concepts. There are three videos in this session: DE Studio Environment, DE Studio: Simple One Page Activity, and DE Studio: Multiple Page Project.

Title: FastBridge Progress Monitoring and Reporting Tools

Description: This session will give an overview of some of the key reports available in FastBridge, including how to access the reports and effectively analyze the data to make instructional decisions.

Title: GEI 101
Presenter: Stacey Kramer
Description: The purpose of General Education Intervention (GEI) is to intervene early for any child who is presenting developmental, academic or behavioral concerns. As soon as a student demonstrates a need, the GEI process of continually designing and/or re-designing supports for children begins with staff intervention. The process does not end until the child is successful. This session will orient the participant to the documents, forms, data collection and process of General Education Intervention.

Description: This is an introduction video for 1st/2nd teachers on how to use the Footsteps2Brilliance program, I can Read. It is a systematic phonics, skill building, comprehension and vocabulary program for our younger students.

Description: This is an instruction video for PK-K teachers on how to use the Footsteps2Brilliance program, I Can Read. It helps children get ready to read and is bilingual.

Title: Introduction to Discovery Education

Description: This session will introduce the Discovery Education platform to users and cover search techniques, accessing classes, using Quicklist, My Content, and what kinds of resources are available on the platform. We will also show updates to DE since last year. Mystery Science has also now migrated to Discovery as a curriculum pack beginning this year.

Title: Introduction to Rozzy Career Adventures
Presenter: Ronda Hoss
Description: Rozzy has lessons and resources for grades K-5 in the areas of Science, Social Studies, Math, ELA, STEM, and career learning. Lessons can be found by subject, grade level, length, or type. Rozzy lessons are aligned to state and national standards. Rozzy lessons are linked to a career in the real world that shows and inspires students toward possible career choices.

Title: NoRedInk Building Units and Growing Success Training

Description: The 6 10-minute modules will help you follow up on NoRedInk diagnostics with effective units that include authentic practice and progress monitoring. This will help you maximize the effectiveness of NoRedInk. Take a screenshot of the modues with green bars showing completion of all 6 sessions.

Title: NoRedInk Certified Educator Program
Presenter: NRI
Description: This indepth program moves an experienced NoRedInk Teacher to the expert stage. The 2-hour certification training will position you to be a district leader in NoRedInk. Submit a screenshot of the certificate after completing the entire training.

Title: NoRedInk for Grades 3-5: A Program to Help Teach Grammar and Writing
Presenter: Robin Dixon
Description: This instructional video will help teachers in grades 3-5 use NoRedInk to strengthen grammar and writing instruction. Viewers will be introduced to the essential elements of this program that can be taken back and used immediately in the classroom.

Title: State Aligned Grammar Skills and Ways to Effectively Teach Them
Presenter: Robin Dixon
Description: This session will review required grammar skills for each grade level K-5. This will help you gain knowledge required grammar skills for your grade level as well as grammar skills students will master in previous and subsequent grade levels. Participants will also learn about resources to effectively teach grammar standards at all grade levels.
